We work out of 1600 E Lincoln Hwy Ste D, DeKalb, IL 60115, on the east side of the Lincoln Highway corridor. The business exists because of a gap we kept running into as plumbers: the standard way to deal with a hidden leak was to start opening things until water appeared. That works, eventually, and it is enormously expensive for the homeowner.
So we bought the equipment and learned to use it properly. Ground microphones, correlators, tracer gas, thermal imaging, line locators, sewer cameras. Then we built a rule around it that we have not broken: two independent methods have to agree on a location before anyone cuts anything.

How we price
Detection is quoted before we start and credited toward the repair when we do the work. After-hours, weekend and holiday response carries a premium and you hear that number on the phone, not on the invoice. Repairs are quoted in writing before they begin. If the answer to your problem is a five-dollar toilet flapper, you pay the diagnostic and we go home — that outcome has generated more referrals for us than any job we talked someone into.

Licensing, insurance and code
Plumbing is licensed work in Illinois and we are licensed to do it. We carry general liability and workers’ compensation coverage and can provide a certificate of insurance naming your entity before we start on a commercial property. Where a job requires a permit we pull it with the City of DeKalb’s Community Development Department at 164 East Lincoln Highway and schedule the inspection.
Work is carried out to the Illinois State Plumbing Code and DeKalb’s local amendments, including cross-connection control requirements for irrigation and other connections to the public water supply.

DeKalb has about 40,000 residents, a university that roughly doubles the daytime population in term, a housing stock spanning a century and a quarter, and a climate that puts every pipe in the city through a hard freeze annually. It produces a distinctive set of leak problems and we have spent years learning them.
