A frozen line you suspect has already split

Right now, go find it. Main valve at the meter, water heater cold inlet, toilet and sink stops. Turn each one to make sure it actually moves — valves that have not been operated in twenty years often seize, and discovering that during a flood is the worst possible time.
Protect the pipes that freeze
In DeKalb the usual victims are lines in exterior walls, rim joists, crawl spaces, unheated garages and vacant rentals. Insulate them, seal the air leaks that make them cold, keep the thermostat at 55°F minimum in an empty property, disconnect hoses from sillcocks before the first hard freeze, and open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls during a deep cold snap.

After the water stops: drying, insurance and what not to do
Move what you can lift, get air moving, and do not put a fan on standing water near electrical. Do not pull up wet carpet pad and reinstall it; pad is not salvageable. Do not paint or close up a wall cavity until it reads dry on a meter, or you seal moisture into the structure and grow a mold problem.
Photograph everything before you clean up. Illinois homeowner policies commonly cover sudden and accidental discharge of water but exclude long-term seepage, so the documentation showing the failure was sudden is the difference between a covered claim and a denied one.
